Syntactically is a study of the
relationship between the words / phrases / clauses / sentences one word /
phrase / clause / sentence to another, or specifically to learn the ins and
outs of phrases, clauses, sentences and discourse.
the term comes from the Greek
syntax (Sun + tattein) which means the set together. Manaf (2009: 3) explains
that the syntax is the branch of linguistics that addresses the internal
structure of the sentence. The internal structure of the sentence discussed is
the phrase, clause, and sentence. So the phrase is the object of study of
syntax and sentence smallest object of study is the largest syntax.
- phrase
- Clause
clause is a construction in which there are
some words that contain predicative element (Keraf, 1984: 138). The clause has
the potential to be a sentence. (Manaf, 2009: 13) explains that what
distinguishes clauses and sentences are final intonation at the end of the
language unit. Sentence ends with final intonation, while the final clause is
not terminated intonation. The final intonation intonation can be news,
questions, commands, and was amazed one function
- sentence
· Unit of language is formed over the compound word by word, compound word
with a phrase, or a combination phrase by phrase, which is minimal in the form
of a clause smoking which contains at least one subject and prediket, both
elements that function explicitly or implicitly;
· Sets of languages was preceded
by an initial silence, punctuated or not punctuated by silence between silence
and ends with the end of the final form of intonation, ie intonation news,
questions, intonation command, and the tone of awe. In written language, the
phrase is a unit of speech preceded by a capital letter, punctuated or not
punctuated a comma (,), colon (:), or a semicolon (;), and ending with final
intonation emblem is a period (.), the question mark (?) or an exclamation mark
(!).intaksis in the sentence (Chaer, 2003: 222).
* Syntactic function in the sentence:
Syntactic function is essentially a "spot" or "drawer" that can be filled by any particular linguistic form (Manaf, 2009: 34). The form of syntactic function is a subject (S), prediket (P), the object (O), complement (Pel.), And information (ket). Not all sentences should contain all the syntactic function. Elements syntactic function that must exist in every sentence is the subject and prediket, while other elements, namely the object, complement and caption a support element in the sentence. Syntactic function will be explained below.
